Apparently the proverbial burning the candles at both ends has actually caught up to me. Gadzooks! I'm sick. Yep. Sick.
It started with Wicked Pixie. She caught this horrible chest cold. Within 24 hours, I had it too. It is this grumbly, hacking chest cold. When you cough, it comes from deep within your chest and it hurts. Your throat is so scratchy, you constantly swallow in a weird attempt to keep it moist. You're so weak, just getting up from your chair and walking 10 feet makes you want to lay down and take a nap.
And nights... They are the worst. When you lay down to go to sleep, your breath catches in your lungs and you cough. Coughing so much that you don't get any sleep. Wicked Pixie seems to cough less at night, while I have to sleep in an arm chair (or try to sleep) because laying down is impossible.
And it has been 3 days!!!
We're at the drippy stage, and have gone through 3 tissue boxes. Luckily, Naughty Pixie isn't sick. She has been running to the store to keep us loaded up on orange juice, bananas, and tissues. Cough drops help but it is minimal. The bigger issue is I have a speaking engagement next week. So, if I don't get better by then, it is certainly going to be interesting.
Time for a nap... In the arm chair.
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear how sick you are! I think I had that same cough last year and finally ended up on an antibiotic when nothing would help me. I hope you recover soon. Sending you healthy thoughts! :-)
