- This month I am teaching at 3 universities. At two of those three universities, I'm teaching 2 classes each. At one of those universities, I'm teaching major 400-level courses that require all sorts of papers including major research papers that will go into their portfolios to determine whether or not they should be able to graduate with their chosen majors. This isn't new. I've been teaching those courses for several years now, but I've not had these many classes at this many universities in a long time.
- Every other month, starting in February, I have major 2-day business events that I'm a key speaker at. These events are big... People from all over the country travel to a specific location just to hear me speak about different topics. It's a huge responsibility, and I have a mountain of materials to create for each event.
- In five of the next seven months, I am the featured speaker at 1-day events. That's even more materials to create.
- I have a few keynote speaking engagements already lined up.
- I have two new clients. One is a small client which needs lots of help, but the other is a major international client that needs even more help. The major international client is project-based and the projects are big. I mean really big. An example? Creating a compensation system based on the unique intricacies of EACH and EVERY job in the company. This company has employees in South America, China, Dubai, Spain, England, Australia, New Zealand, and a few other countries. It's a project they started, didn't get very far, and now want me to take over.
- In May, I'm heading to the Great Lakes to speak at a 2-day event. In December, it's somewhere in New Mexico (I think Santa Fe) to do the same thing.
- My first book is being published in March. This means all sorts of junk like book signings, "readings," and whatever else I'm suppose to do to pimp my little piece of the non-fiction world.
- My second book is being published in August. August is going to be a nightmare month for me. Not only am I having to do the book signings, readings, and whatever else is necessary for the book, but I'm also doing several speaking events which require me to do a lot of prep work ahead of time.
- August's activity comes on the heels of July's big activity - I'm moving into a new place. The house the Pixie Household currently calls home is way to small and there are too many maintenance issues to deal with so it is time to pick up and move house. Though, I do wish we were moving house to the U.K.
- Speaking of the U.K., September finds me dropping everything and heading to the U.K. with the Pixie Household in tow. We won't be coming back until November, which will certainly make things interesting since I still plan on teaching and working with clients from our rented places in Scotland, London, and Cornwall. Thank goodness for the Internet, email, and Skype.
Now that you've heard about my 2013 plans... What are your plans for the year? Going on a holiday somewhere? Planning on writing a great epic novel? Do tell!

Good Lord! That is sure a full plate. I don't envy you, but I had times like that when I was working. Now, my "full plate" is a trip to Florida at the end of the month, and 39 hours of my time spent working for my old boss on line during the next YEAR. Easy peasy. I find moving to be very stressful.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you, DJan. I find moving extremely stressful as well. In fact, the last time I moved, I managed to catch a serious case of pneumonia. Not fun, and I'm really not looking forward to moving in July but I am hoping a lot of early preparation will make the process easier. At least that is the hope.
DeleteThat is a full playe - the move will probably suck at the time but then you have a new place you all fit so that will be great and the full plate shows all your hard work to build your business is working also YOU'RE COMING OVER HERE!!!! (i'm a little bit excited about that)
ReplyDeleteI'm super excited about coming over. I'm hoping to see you while in London and Lisa-Marie while in Scotland. It makes me want to dance! :)
DeleteMy Goodness, that's a lot of stuff. However, good to be busy. Also, Yes to seeing you please!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! You're one of the first people I'm contacting when we arrive in Glasgow. It will be lots of tea, cakes, and laughter. :)
